Since Memorial Day is usually the unofficial beginning of summer, I decided to pack the hounds up and head down to the lake for an extended weekend. The weather was perfect and I managed to get some well needed rest and relaxation.
Beau and Belle spent most of the weekend indoors, as it was too hot for them to lounge outside. However, they did manage to down a few rawhides and stink up the lake house with noxious emissions. They also did doggy meet and greets with the neighbor’s Springer Spaniels and Beagle.
There is never a shortage of nature to take in, so I tried to capture most of it on camera. A visual synopsis of the weekend follows: (Note: I have no idea what most of these flowers, insects, birds and species are)
My vantage point for most of the weekend.
Feathered Wildlife
Nature at it’s best
Hummingbirds
One of my favorite things to do while relaxing is watching the Hummingbirds.
Palatial Grandeur
Note: We Plebeians inhabit more modest housing units; but I can dream, can’t I?
And my personal favorite:
Sadly these beautiful houses are dwarfed by some even larger residences on the lake. One has six floors, and another has a multi-level water slide. Ridiculous! I’ll snap pictures of those next time.
Mansions aside, it wouldn’t be a lake trip without a relaxing sunset cruise:
I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday weekend! Now get back to work!

Those are great pictures! I also love the humming birds. One day when I get a faster lens I'll try my hand at capturing them. :-P Looks like the lake is a very peaceful place to be- what a perfect way to kick off the summer!
