Not much going on of late

Nothing exciting going on in our house of late. We've been getting back in the daily grind after some short work weeks and well needed time off.

Belle and Beau are as loving and entertaining as ever.

Belle is really starting to adapt to our life and daily schedule. In the last few days she has been out of her crate all day for the first time. Her stomach and digestive track weren't really cooperating with us before. Now she seems to be more regular and it has allowed us to give her some more trust and freedom. So far this week she has only shredded a few stuffed animals and hauled a pillow from our library to the living room. She's been a good girl thus far! ::knock on wood::

We still haven't made a decision on when she'll get her hernia repaired. The vet indicated that she wasn't in any immediate danger, but we'd still like to get it repaired for her comfort in the long run.

Mr. Fatso is no longer worthy of his title. Beau has dropped a few pounds and is looking much better. He's slim and sexy! We think he may have some mild arthritis or lasting injuries from the track that may inhibit his mobility at times. Other than that, he's doing great and definitely Iva's little buddy.

Both of the hounds are learning what is expected of them at home. They are learning my key words and hand gestures for things like going outside, going upstairs for bed, and remaining calm during feeding time. They've made great improvements in all areas in the last month or so.

At the last GPA walk at Stony Point Fashion Park both dogs were very tense and not responding well to me on the leash. In recent weeks I have been working with them on their manners and remaining behind me while on the walk. There is still a lot to be learned, especially when it pertains to seeing other dogs on our walks. However, they are completely different dogs from the first week when Belle came off the hauler with a bundle of energy.

There is another walk coming up this weekend, and I am considering taking Beau to see how he does this time around. Belle doesn't have a coat yet and she gets a bit chilly after more than 20-30 minutes in the cold.

We're also preparing for the arrival of our first foster. She will arrive sometime in the next two weeks, so we'll be sure to document our experience on the blog as well.

Glad you got the weight off your boy. Not only will his joints feel better, but he'll be healthier overall!

Fostering. Welcome to the club. It took a few fosters coming and going before our guys grabbed a clue that other greys may come and go, but they were staying.

Good luck with the new guest - it's very kind of you to foster.
